Tips and Tricks for Hosting a Responsible Gathering
Between shopping, food selection and guest lists, the last thing one thinks about is consumption of alcohol. Here are some tips to ease your mind and have a fun event.
You're The Host
Don't forget, you're hosting the party which means you are responsible for what happens in your home. Try not to drink too much yourself so that you are able to think clearly and quickly is problems were to arise.
Keep The Food Coming
Don't be shy...EAT! Serve high-starch and protein foods such as meat, veggies, cheese, dips and breads. Avoid serving salty, sweet or greasy snack foods; they’ll make your guests thirstier.
Did you know that people tent to drink much more if they are serving themselves? Look into appointing a bartender for your event and supply tools like jiggers to ensure that correct amounts are poured.
Wrap It Up...
When you're closing up shop, remove the alcohol first. Let guests continue to pick on snacks and have water available for everyone. If you notice guests shouldn't be driving, call Lyft or Uber. If you're feeling really generous, offer a pillow, blanket and your couch.
